Mr. Gary L. Alvesteffer, age 55 of Pentwater, died in San Antonio, TX. He was born in Hart, Michigan on March 30, 1954 to Louis and Betty (Keen) Alvesteffer. Gary was a member of the Class of 1972 at Pentwater High School. He served his country in US Army. Gary volunteered at Hospice, the Disabled American Veterans and assisted people in the San Antonio area to help them receive their benefits. He was an avid reader and lover of animals. Gary was a very loving son and patriotism and military service was always paramount with him. He is survived by his son, James (Dana) Banning of St. Petersburg, FL; 2 grandchildren, Brianna Banning and Alexis Banning; his parents, Louis and Betty Alvesteffer of Pentwater; brother, Christopher (Lexi) Alvesteffer of Ludington; sister, Deborah (Dennis) Lucero of Grand Junction, CO; nieces and nephews. The Memorial Service for Gary will be held Friday, May 15, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. from the Tate-King Funeral Home with Fr. Anton Tran officiating. Interment with full Military Honors will take place in the Hart Cemetery with the Pentwater VFW Post 6017. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
