Mr. Gary D. "Bo" Bonine, age 69 of Hart passed away Friday, August 14, 2009. He was born on February 7, 1940 in Erie, Kansas to Richard and Lula (Showalter) Bonine. Gary graduated from Labette County High School in Altamont, Kansas in 1958. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and retired as a Senior Torpedoman's Mate on December 1, 1978. After retiring from the U.S. Navy, he was employed for 12 years as a missile tracker at Ford Aerospace & Communications Corporation in Guam. In 1990, he retired and moved to Hart, where he was a substitute for 4 years with the Pentwater, Hart and Shelby school districts. His passion was playing golf and he played every day he could. He has taught many nieces and nephews the game and those memories will forever be cherished. He was a member of Oceana Club in Shelby and Colonial Golf Course in Hart, where he shared the love of the game with many friends. Bo is survived by his step-daughter Renee Smith of Sumner, Washington; 3 brothers, Will (Pam) Bonine of Pentwater, Richard (Rita) Bonine of Carlsborg, Washington, and Brian (Lynette) Bonine of Hart; 2 sisters, Phyllis Gerard of Pentwater, and Peggy Frasco of Melrose Park, Illinois; brother in law, Al Pearson of Pentwater; 2 step-grandchildren, Maxx and Amanda Smith of Sumner, Washington and many nieces, nephews and golf friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jane Pearson. His life will be remembered with a golf outing on October 3, 2009 at Oceana Golf Club in Shelby.
