Mr. Gary D. "Grub" Tubbs, age 76, of Hart, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2011. He was born July 9, 1935, in Ludington to Donald and Ruth (Bourgette) Tubbs. He married Beverly Ann Anderson in November 1953 in Hart. She preceded him in death on July 8, 1989. He was employed at DuPont as a maintenance tech for thirty-five years until his retirement in the early 1990s. He was a member of Congregational UCC in Hart and the Oceana Eagles. An avid outdoorsman, he loved U of M sports, gardening, and casino gambling.Gary is survived by his mother, Ruth; four daughters, Kathy (Michael) Van Bergen of Hart, Karen (Kevin) Fransen of Simi Valley, CA, Kristi (Kenneth) Farquhar of Hart, Jenny (Todd) French of Chesterfield, MI; two sons, Robert (Brenda) Tubbs and Dick (Laurie) Tubbs, all of Hart, MI; one sister, Bev (Larry) Foster of Hart; and two brothers, Fred (Dianna) Tubbs of Hart and Tom (Diana) Tubbs of Mt. Pleasant; and companion, Shirley Kumzi of Hart. His sixteen grandchildren, Nichole Tubbs, Allison Tubbs, Sarrah (Rich) Johnson, Katie (Matt) Nieboer, Eric (Christine) Van Bergen, Steven Van Bergen, Christopher (Mary) Gilmore, Bryan (Lisa) Gilmore, Raven (David) Towne, Melissa Gilmore, Mallory Gilmore, Jessica Farquhar, Jason Farquhar, Jolyn Farquhar, Tyler French, and Jaden French also survive, along with 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, his wife, and a sister, Ruth Ann Corliss. Funeral services for Mr. Tubbs will be Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at 11:00 am at Congregational United Church of Christ in Hart with Rev. Earnie Cummings officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 at King Funeral Home. Interment will be in Hart Cemetery.
