Mr. Gene Allen DeLong, age 85 of Hart, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017 at home. He was born in Vallejo, CA on March 31, 1932 to Horace and Jean (Stewart) DeLong. Gene married the former Marianne Young on August 23, 1958 at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church in Muskegon. He was a military veteran of the US Air Force and retired after 21 years of military service. Gene was very proud of his military service to his country.
Gene and Marianne enjoyed their family very much. They both loved traveling together around the United States, usually by automobile or train. He was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Marianne DeLong of Hart; six children, Beth (Jon) Bowen of Hart, Tom (Linda) DeLong of Hart, Jeanne (Kerry) Hallack of Hart, Michael (Terrie) DeLong of Hart, Mary (Scott) Fuce of Portage, MI, George (Tami) DeLong of Delton, MI; fourteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; one brother, Ted DeLong of Montague, CA; one sister, Toni DeLong of Yountville, CA
The Mass of the Resurrection for Gene will be offered Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 11:00 AM from St. Vincent Catholic Church-Pentwater, with Fr. Phillip Sliwinski presiding. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Wednesday, one hour prior to Mass time at St. Vincent Catholic Church, where the Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 AM.
Memorial contributions may be given to Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN), KNOM Radio, P.O. Box 190649, Anchorage, AK 99519, Harbor Hospice.
The King Funeral Home and Cremation Services-Hart is in charge of arrangements.
