Mrs. Genevieve L. Hepworth, age 86, of Hart, passed away Friday, December 5, 2014. She was born July 8, 1928, in Hart to George and Helen (Petersen) Settler. She graduated from Pentwater High School with the class of 1946. On August 2, 1949, Genevieve married William Duncan at the Smith Corner's United Methodist Church. They were married forty seven years before his passing on August 5, 1996. She later married Denzil Hepworth in January 2002; they were married for twelve years. Genevieve was a beautician and owned The Beauty Nook. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church of Pentwater and attended First Baptist Church of Hart. Gen was an avid gardener, loving to be outdoors turning the dirt. She became a watercolorist under her friend Kitty's instruction. She began a fascination with quilting which warmed family members. Genevieve was recruited by friend Elaine to be her third grade grandma which brought many fine moments. Gen loved to travel with her spouse and friends to Hawaii, Mexico and tropics.
Genevieve is survived by her husband: Denzil Hepworth of Hart; their children, Barb (Al) Sheren of Montague, Jill (Frank) Buckingham of Prescott, AZ, Helayne (Cam) Helms of Pentwater, David (Barbara) Duncan of Montague, Paul Duncan of Weare, Peter (Sherri) Duncan of Grandville, Randy (Linda) Hepworth of Pentwater, Timothy (Nancy) Hepworth of Mechanicsville, PA, Geoffrey (Sheri) Hepworth of Montague, Bryan (Debi) Hepworth of Pentwater; thirty grandchildren; and twenty-nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and first husband, William Duncan.
The Funeral Service for Mrs. Hepworth will be Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at King Funeral Home in Hart with Pastor Elvin L. Harden officiating. She will be laid to rest in South Weare Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, December 8, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at King Funeral Home in Hart.
