George Edwin Benson, 94, of Whitehall, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2018. George was born on January 5, 1924 to Henning and Josephine Benson.
George served his country proudly in the US Navy. He married Lois Mae Colby in 1956 and together they were blessed with 2 children and 50 years of marriage until her death in 2006. He worked as an electrician during his entire working career. George was a member of White Lake Congregational Church. He enjoyed fishing, boating, fixing things, and growing his tomatoes. George was a homebody and enjoyed keeping busy around his house. He was a strong-willed, reliable, generous, patient man. He will be deeply missed.
George is survived by: his son, Brian (Cheryl) Benson; daughter, Barbara (Andy) Terrien; grandchildren, Ben (Liz) Terrien and Julia (Jesse Skok) Terrien; great-grandchildren, Adelaide and Sadie; brother, Alvin (Carol) Benson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Lois; and sisters, Alice and Marilyn.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 AM on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at White Lake Congregational Church 1809 S Mears Ave. Whitehall, 49461 with Rev. Donna Morton officiating . Visitation will take place from 10-11AM at the church. Interment will be in Oakhurst Cemetery in Whitehall.
Memorial contributions may be made to AMVETS or the American Heart Association.
