Mr. George Carl Brandel, Jr. age 92, of Hart, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015. He was born June 17, 1923, in Muskegon to George and Thelma (Bender) Brandel. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II as an aviation machinist. On August 25, 1945, George married Doris Louise House in Memphis, TN; they were married seventy years. George owned and operated Brandel Septic Tank Service.

He also enjoyed working with both wood and metal and building machines and dune scooters. George also owned the gas station in Mears at the corner.

George is survived by his wife, Doris Brandel of Hart; three daughters: Mercile Louise (Bud) Olson of Mears, Janice Brandel of Roosevelt Park, Muskegon, and Shirley Steinmetz of Fruitport; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Donald (Linda) Brandel of Whitehall.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Carl Brandel Sr. and Thelma Brandel, one brother, Jack Brandel; and two sisters, Mary Ann Wyns, and Joan Pearson.

According to George's wishes, no services will be held. The family requests that any memorials be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
