Mr. George C. Fatseas, age 89, of Hampton, Virginia, and formerly of Mears, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2012. He was born August 18, 1923, in Youngstown, Ohio to Constantine and Marina (Nicholon) Fatseas. He was employed at Department of the Army as an inspector. He served in the Army during World War II from April 1943 to January 1946 as a radio repairman, earning the Victory Medal, the American Theater Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 4 Bronze Battle Stars, 3 Overseas Service Bars, and the Good Conduct Medal.
George is survived by two daughters, Marian F. McCall of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania and Claudia L. Fatseas of Hampton, Virginia; one son, Thomas C. Fatseas of Mears; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his former wife, Henrietta (Smith) Fatseas of Mears; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Howard Fatseas.
The funeral service for Mr. Fatseas will be Monday, September 17, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the King Funeral Home in Hart with Rev. Ron Rickard officiating. Interment will be in the Mears Cemetery.
