Mr. George Edward Hamilton, age 71, of Grand Rapids, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013. He was born January 20, 1942, in Pierce City, Missouri, to Harold and Wilma (Chapman) Hamilton. He was an inspector for the United States Army, serving for 30 years until his retirement in 1997. He married the former Mary Catherine Glover in 1973; they were married for 33 years before her death in 2006. George was a jump master for the 101st Airborne Division; he was a private pilot and flew model airplanes. He enjoyed watching movies and photography. He also enjoyed woodworking; cuckoo clocks were his specialty. He always gave a helping hand to anyone who asked.

George is survived by his sons, Matthew and Michael Hamilton, both of Grand Rapids; his step-daughter, Jennifer Jones, also of Grand Rapids; his sister, Lorrene (Kenneth) Mackey of Pierce City, Missouri; and his step-mother, Audrey Hamilton of Texhoma, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.

At his request cremation has taken place.
