George Patrick Smith, 83, of Hesperia, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023, at his home. He was born February 8, 1940, in Traverse City.

George was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force; his daily prayers always started with the brave men and women serving our country in the armed forces. He also had a passion for woodworking and collecting locomotives and memorabilia.

On November 21, 1977, George married Reba (Beeman) Decker Smith, and she preceded him in death. George and Reba had a wonderful loving marriage in which they would enjoy camping, traveling, and snowbirding to their home in Florida. They both shared a passion for fishing, gardening, and birds; they had many beautiful birdfeeders provided for the local birds.

George was also preceded in death by: his parents; and sister, Lois Dittrich.

George is survived by many loving family members and friends.

Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 19, 2023, at the River of Life Fellowship Church, 4860 Holton Road, Twin Lake, MI 49457, with a luncheon immediately following.
