Mr. Gerald Dudley, Sr., age 75, of Walkerville, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011. He was born May 6, 1936, in Fruitport to Stephen and Ruth (Riddle) Dudley. He married Sandra Hitts on August 31, 1956, in Walkerville, and they celebrated 55 years of marriage this year. He was employed at Brunswick Corporation until his retirement in 1979. He also worked for Tanner Roofing. Gerald was an avid fisherman and hunter, who enjoyed vegetable gardening and bird watching. He loved his grandkids, his dogs, and all kids.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Sandra; three children, Gerald (Young) Dudley, Jr. of Wyoming, MI, Ruth (Rick) Bullock of Deer River, MN, and Steve (Debbie) Dudley of Seward, AK; five grandchildren, Nettie Jo Brush, Gerald Dudley III, Arnold LaFevre Jr., Jennifer Dudley, and Spring Latimer; nineteen great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Janet (John) Shriver of Perth, Australia, Helen (Bill) Sturgis of Muskegon, and Ruth (Everett) Frees of Walkerville. He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandsons, Eric Larson and Edward Cantrell, and two brothers, William and Robert Dudley.
Funeral services for Mr. Dudley will be Friday, December 9, 2011, at 11:00 am at Walkerville Wesleyan Church with Pastor Dennis Hintz officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the King Funeral Home. Interment will be in Abson Cemetery.
