Gerald Leonard-Young Tanner II, affectionately known by all as Gary, unexpectedly passed away Sunday, March 22, 2026. He was born in Seoul, South Korea on November 10, 1987.
Gary was a loving father to his 3 children: JT, Malia, and Elah, as well as a beloved companion, son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend. Gary had the biggest heart and he was always there to help anyone in need, no matter who they were.
Gary had fine taste in cars, shoes, music, and women, he loved them all. He was proud of his car and loved to accessorize with his rims, his favorite being Chrysler 300, and it had to have a Hemi. His shoes were always on point, and he especially loved his Jordan 11s in the Bred colorway, red was his absolute favorite color. Gary always smelled good and had jewelry on to match his vibe.
Gary also had a fine taste for music, rap and k-pop on repeat, he was very proud of his Korean heritage. He was a massive Ohio State fan, especially during football season. Gary was also a fan of good food, notably biscuits and gravy, and beef stew which he requested for every birthday meal.
Lastly, Gary was proud of his new Harley, only getting to ride a few times in anticipation for this upcoming summer.
Gary is survived by his children that meant the whole world to him, JT Tanner, Malia Tanner, and Elah Tanner, and their mother, Kayla Tanner; his sister, Courtney (Trevor) Tinkham; parents, Pamela (Bill) Kalman and Gerald (Carla) Tanner; closest cousins, Joel Tanner, Anthony (Ashley) Tanner, and Jaclyn (Ryan) Kane; special friends, Antonio ‘AJ’ Gonzalez, Karlee Reyna, Duane Knowles, Kevin Stanfield, Eric Failing, and Max Knowles; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Gary was preceded in death by: grandparents, Albert and LulaBelle Tanner and Everett and Laura Turner; his uncle, Tony Tanner; and aunt, Lori Tanner.
Gary adored his pets and he is now reunited with Petey, Braxton, Max, Ruby, and Momma Kee again.
In accordance with Gary’s wishes, cremation has taken place and private services will be held.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with expenses.
