Mr. Gerald Lee Sladick, Jr., age 56, of Ludington, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2016, at Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital. He was born April 23, 1960, in Ludington to Gerald and Joyce (Yeck) Sladick, Sr. A lifelong Ludington resident, Gerald graduated from Ludington High School with the Class of 1978. He was employed as a set-up foreman at Kaines Corp. in Ludington. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and attended St. Simon Catholic Church. Gerald loved to work on older cars, including his 1955 Ford and 1946 Ford Pick Up. He was a master at fixing anything. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Relationships with family and friends were very important to Gerald, especially the bond he shared with his son, Tony.
Gerald is survived by one son: Anthony Lee "Tony" Sladick of Ludington; his parents Gerald and Joyce Sladick, Sr., of Ludington; one sister: Janet (Edward) Merriman of Ludington; one brother: Edward (Kimberly) Sladick of Ludington; nephew, Remington Merriman of Ludington; several other nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Anthony and Stella Sladick and Edward and Martha Yeck.
The Funeral Service for Mr. Sladick will be Monday, August 8, 2016, at 11:00 am at King Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Ludington with Father Wayne B. Wheeler Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Pere Marquette Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday one hour prior to the service at King Funeral Home & Cremation Services. The family requests that any memorials be directed to the Education Fund for Anthony L. Sladick.
