Geraldine "Gerrie" Lillian Ford, died Thursday, March 25, 2021. She was born December 2, 1922, in Detroit, the daughter of Theodore and Theresa (Lukasek) McDonald.
Gerrie graduated from Denby High School and from Wayne State University with an Interior Design degree. She was employed at Natural Environmental Reclamation Concepts, Inc. in Hanover, Michigan, and at N.A.I.C. in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, until she retired at age 80. She then moved to Traverse City, Michigan, to be closer to her family.
Gerrie was an avid Detroit Tigers fan her whole life, often telling stories of how she would get on a bus and travel to downtown Detroit to watch a game. Her all-time favorite player was Charlie Gehringer.
Gerrie is survived by: her loving daughter, Reverend Dr. Diane (Ford) O'Shea of Hanover, Michigan; son, Dr. Ralph (Denise) Ford III of Traverse City, Michigan; grandchildren, Kathleen O'Shea of Lansing, Michigan, Ralph (Mandy) Ford IV of Traverse City, Michigan, Denise (John) Parks of Hominy, Oklahoma, Jennifer (Tyler) Cerny of Traverse City, Michigan, and Jaimee (John) Blanchette II of Grandville, Michigan; great-grandchildren, Mark (Ashley) Sholtis II of Clark Lake, Michigan, Hope Sholtis of Wyoming, Michigan, and Evan (McKenna) Sholtis of Comstock Park, Michigan, Olivia Cerny, Maddison Ford, Ella Cerny, Ralph Ford V, John Blanchette III, Lilly Cerny, and Jax Blanchette; and great-great-grandchildren, Patrick and Brady Sholtis. --- All of whom will miss Grandma's kisses.
Gerrie was preceded in death by: her parents; and sisters, Jeanette McDonald, Corinne Blair, and Evelyn Ewald.
Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 24, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Friday, April 23, 2021, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell-Traverse City Chapel.
