Obituary

Gerard "Jerry" W. Slovinski passed on May 5, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Muskegon with his loving wife, Jean by his side. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on November 20, 1948 to Thomas and Lois Slovinski.

Jerry graduated from Reeths Puffer High School in 1966 and went on to Central Michigan University to graduate with a Bachelor in Social Work. He married Jean A. Yonkers, in 1969. He retired from the State of Michigan as a Child Protection Services worker in 2002.

Jerry was a lector and active member of Saint Mary of the Woods in Lakewood club for many years. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus.  He was a long-time board member and involved parent of The Maycroft Square Tappers. Jerry loved to travel with Maycroft Square Tappers, where he and his family traveled all over the country. He also loved to spend time at his camping trailer up north, where he enjoyed campfires, fishing and Trivial Pursuit games while relaxing with family.

Jerry is survived by: his wife Jean; his four children Gerard, Anna, Peter (Jennifer) and Victoria; his four grandchildren, Cory, Mikayla, Ethan and Maddison Slovinski. He is also survived by his one remaining brother, Paul (Denise) Slovinski.

Jerry is preceded in death by: his parents, Thomas and Lois Slovinski; and two of his brothers Michael (Kathy) and Thomas Slovinski.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 13, 2022, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1110 Dykstra Road, Muskegon, MI 49445. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Thursday, May 12, 2022, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White-Lake Chapel, 413 South Mears Avenue, Whitehall, MI 49461, with a praying of the Rosary at 7:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Kids Food Basket of Muskegon at Kidsfoodbasket.org in honor of Gerard.

Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White-Lake Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
