IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gerritt Dale
Schaffer
October 5, 1960 – August 24, 2021
Gerritt Dale Schaffer, 60, of Buckley, passed away unexpectedly on August 24, 2021. He was born October 5, 1960, the son of Lucille Schaffer and Louis Michels.
Gerritt worked as a truck driver most of his life; he was currently employed by H. Cox & Son where he'd worked for over ten years. He was a simple no-frills man who worked hard to provide for his family. His work ethic, quick wit, and sense of humor was passed on to his children. Gerritt will be remembered for his soft heart and willingness to help anyone. He was a kid at heart and a simple man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and quiet moments watching the deer in his back yard.
Gerritt is survived by: his children, Jessica Schaffer of Buckley, Jonathon Schaffer of Fife Lake, and Scott (Victoria) Baldwin of Williamsburg; his grandchildren, Collin Schaffer and Avery Elizabeth Schaffer; his former spouse and friend, Sheila Wheeler of Kingsley; his sister, Marie Schaffer of Traverse City; his nephews, Nick Schaffer and Justin Schaffer; his nieces, Kate and Kaylee Trowbridge and their mother, Roxanne Trowbridge.
Gerritt was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Carl Schaffer.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM, Friday, September 3, 2021, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell-Kingsley Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, an account has been established at Forest Area Credit Union in the names of Jessica and Jonathon Schaffer.
Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell-Kingsley Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
