Obituary

Mr. Gilbert Eugene Anderson, age 86, of Pentwater, passed away Friday, July 20, 2012. He was born May 6, 1926, in Chicago, IL to Ole and Anna (Nessa) Anderson. He married Adrian Loe in Chicago on May 6, 1950; she preceded him in death in 1989. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II from 1943 to 1946. He employed by the C & O Carferry as a machinist until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Ludington, the Marine Corps League, the Merchant Marines, the Great Lakes Lighthouse Keepers Association, the Pentwater VFW, the Oceana Eagles, the Sons of Norway, the American Legion in Ludington, and was a life member of the NRA. He was a founding member of the Ludington Boat Club. Mr. Anderson enjoyed photography, fishing, hunting, boating, and bowling.

Gilbert is survived by three sons, Clifford Anderson of Deland, Florida; Vernon Anderson and Lloyd Anderson, both of Pentwater. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife and two sisters, Eileen Manley in 2011 and Annette Vorac in 1982.

A graveside service for Mr. Anderson will be held Monday, August 13, 6 p.m., at Pentwater Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crystal Valley Care Fund, PO Box 451, Hart, MI 49420.
