Gloria P. Rigoni, 99, of Big Blue Lake Township, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025. Gloria was born in Elgin, Illinois on January 21, 1926, the eldest daughter of the eight children of Glenn Shales and Lena Baumann.

Surviving are Gloria's brother, Butch Shales, along with both of her sisters, Norma Shales and Victoria "Vicki" (Shales) Fiebig. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents and 4 of her brothers: Russ, Walter, Bud and Gary Shales.

Gloria grew up and spent the first half of her life in Elgin. When she was 45, she decided to pursue a business opportunity in the Blue Lake area and became a co-owner of the The Ishnala Trading Post on Nichols Road. Within two years after arriving in the Blue Lake area, she met Joe Rigoni, a regular at the Trading Post. Within a few years they got married and lived in the house at Big Blue Lake since 1974. Joe passed away in 2000. Since then Gloria lived on her own at Big Blue Lake welcoming just about every person and animal who would stop by to visit. The last two years of her life were spent at The Cottages at Martin Lake where she continued to enjoy visits from old friends and where she made new ones.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Blue Lake Community Church, 10981 Blue Lake Road, Holton, Michigan, 49425. https://www.bluelakecommunitychurch.com/ A luncheon served by the Church community will follow services.
