Gretha Mae Moak, 83, of Pentwater, died Sunday, February 25, 2018, at home with her family by her side. She was born July 28, 1934, in Hart, the daughter of Frederick and Hazel (Wagner) Immer.
Gretha graduated from Pentwater High School in 1952. She furthered her education at Alma College where she obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Science, all while working at Nickerson Inn. She worked at Hart Middle School as a science teacher. She owned and operated The Village Green Grocery Store, in Pentwater, and worked at Huntington Bank and the Pentwater Wine Shop. In her spare time, she was an avid gardener, and she loved to play bridge with her friends. Gretha was a woman of strong faith. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, in Pentwater, where she was the secretary for 20 years.
Gretha is survived by: her siblings, Alice (Donald) Hall of Jackson and Fredrick Immer of Flushing; her nieces and nephews, Deb (Paul) Roberts of Ludington, Scott (Beth) Hall of Jackson, Karl Immer of Flushing, and Kathy (Mike) Immer-Tankersley of Huntsville, Alabama; her stepchildren, Robert "Bob" Moak, James "Jim" Moak, Ann Marie Sonnenberg, and Amy Moak; a countless number of bright and successful students from her classes; and many dear friends.
Gretha married Howard Moak who preceded her in death in 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM, Friday, March 2, 2018, at St. James Episcopal Church, in Pentwater, with Fr. Sam Morrison officiating. Interment will take place in the Pentwater Township Cemetery, in Pentwater, in the spring. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Thursday, March 1, 2018, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service – King-Hart Chapel, 2370 North 72 nd Avenue, Hart, Michigan 49420.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pentwater Public Schools or to St. James Episcopal Church.
