Tibbitts
December 27, 1924 – October 14, 2021
Warren Tibbitts, 96, of Whitehall, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021. He was born December 27, 1924, in Millinocket, Maine, the son of Howard and Mary (Sears) Tibbitts.
Warren proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps, was a veteran of World War II, and a lifetime member of the White Lake VFW Post 3256. Being active in his community, he was a member of the White Lake Golf Club, White Lake Yacht Club, Whitehall Lions Club, Arts Council of White Lake, and the Michigan Education Association-Retired Teachers. He was also a former member of Parks and Recreation for Fruitland Township and the Chamber of Commerce.
Warren also volunteered for many organizations, including Hackly Hospital as a courtesy car driver, the Old Newsboys, the Fruitland Township Board of Review, Bluff Road Association, and faithfully at Lebanon Lutheran Church, in Whitehall. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, skiing, boating, traveling, and spending time with his friends at the White Lake Senior Center.
Warren is survived by: his grandchildren, Troy Brown, Tammy (Brian) Petroski, Scott (Alison) Lamson, John (Jennifer) Szegda, Sara (Greg) Carter, and Brandon (Steve) Lamson; great-grandchildren, Tyler Brown, Dylan Brown, Madison Petroski, Hannah Petroski, Cam Lamson, Sarah Joe, and Liam Szegda; sons-in-law, John Lamson and Ed Knauss; step-children, Greg (Patty) Lighton and Jeff (Barb) Lighton; step-grandchildren, Gregory Lighton, Rebecca Lighton, Brandon Lighton, and Michelle Lighton; step-great-grandson, Beau Dietz; and his dog and faithful companion, Shadow.
Warren was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Beverly Tibbitts; children, Cheryl Lamson, Sharon Knauss, and Sharmon Tibbitts; step-son, Rick Lighton; four brothers; and two sisters.
Memorial services will be conducted outdoors at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Lebanon Lutheran Church, 1101 South Mears Avenue, Whitehall, MI 49461, with Rev. Douglas Ogden officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lebanon Lutheran Church.
