Obituary

Hallard Floyd Kittridge, 89, passed away on February 28, 2026 leaving behind a lifetime of laughter, stories and unforgettable memories. Hallard was born on September 30, 1936, in Montague, Michigan to Charles and Emma Kittridge. He was a man armed with sharp wit, a twinkle in his eye, and a story always ready to be told. Time spent with Hallard was never dull- his laughter was contagious, and his stories will live on in the hearts of those who heard them. From talking about his time in Korea in the U.S. Army, tales of his bartending years, and time as a Food Service Supervisor in the Michigan Department of Corrections. Hallard was truly a character in the best sense of the word.

One of his simple but cherished pleasures in life was going out for breakfast. Those mornings were more than just meals; they were opportunities for conversation, connection, and, of course, another good story.

Hallard is survived by: his daughters, Gina Lorenson, Sherri (Chris) Winkler, and Leisha Bolden; his grandchildren, Billie Jo (Luke) Peterson, Jared (Rochelle) Lorenson, Leah (Mike) Johnson, Nathan Major, Phil Lorenson, Amanda Lorenson, Brittany Nesbary, Jessica (Spencer) Grimm and Andy Major; his great-grandchildren, Emma, Addie, Callie, and Lauren Peterson, Maddy Nunn, Hannah and Hailey Johnson, Dayton Blohm, Nola and Lincoln Lorenson, Rayna Major, and Aubrey and Kaimen Mumford.

He was proceeded in death by: the mother of his children, Carol Kittridge: stepsons, Mitchell and Randy Major; sons-in-law, Steve Lorenson and Dale Bolden; grandson, Denny Chalmers; sister, Shirley (Tom) Wonders; and brother, Charles (Winnie) Kittridge.

To the wonderful breakfast crew at Gary’s Restaurant, for years, you’ve been more than just a restaurant staff to Hallard- you’ve been part of his routine, his comfort, and his friends. It means so much to know he was looked after by such thoughtful people. We truly appreciate you. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. A family memorial service will take place in the spring.

Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
