IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Harriet Jean
Powlus
July 21, 1940 – February 2, 2025
Harriet "Jean" Powlus, 84, died peacefully in Traverse City, MI on Sunday, February 2, 2025. She was born daughter of Orville and Gladys (Badgley) Cornish on July 21, 1940, in Bad Axe, MI. Jean lived most of her life in Saginaw, MI. She attended Arthur Hill High School, married James R. Powlus, who preceded her in death in 1968, raised her children and worked for thirty-five years at General Motors Saginaw Metal Castings Operations, formerly known as "Grey Iron", retiring in 2003.
She enjoyed time with her children and grandchildren most of all, but also enjoyed quilting, knitting, gardening, and the company of her miniature schnauzer. Jean had a bright smile and was fond of quietly helping a neighbor or someone in need.
Preceded in death by her parents and siblings, she is survived by her children, Patricia (Michael) Miller of Traverse City, MI and Scott (Peggy) Powlus of Belmont, MI; five grandchildren – Sara (Matt) Satkowiak of Traverse City, MI, Anna (Steve) Schaenzer of Midland, MI, Kayla (Corey) Williams of Grand Rapids, MI, Megan (Eric) Jipping of Grand Rapids, MI, Adam (Kate) Powlus of Sonora, CA and eleven great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express deep gratitude to Traditions Assisted Living of Saginaw, MI, Bay Ridge Assisted Living of Traverse City, MI and Hospice of Michigan staffs for loving care the past few years.
