Obituary

Mr. Harvey Reeds, age 88 of Hart, died Thursday, February 18, 2010. He was born in Hart on September 23, 1921 to Thomas and Minnie (Wolf) Reeds and was a lifetime Hart resident. On June 1, 1944, he married Lorna Fetters in Hart. Harvey was a general laborer and carpenter with Local 100. He worked on several projects including the Oceana Courthouse and Jail, Oceana County Medical Care Facility, Ludington Pumped Storage, Hart Hydro, Crosswinds Condominiums and US 31 Highway overpasses. He was also a truck driver and had worked in maintenance at the Oceana County Medical Care Facility. He was active with Hart Historic District, the Oceana County Historical Society and was a 50 year member of The Old Newsboys. Harvey also served his country in the US Army from 1942-1946 and was a member of the Hart VFW Post 1329. Harvey never met a stranger and enjoyed having coffee with the group at the Pink Elephant Diner. Harvey is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lorna of Hart; their daughters, Suzanne (Bob) Smalley of Allendale and Linda Reeds of Hart; 2 grandsons, Michael Fuller of Hart and Marc (Jennie) Fuller of Whitmore Lake, MI; 1 sister, Phyllis Matzke of Wisconsin; several nieces and nephews; brothers and sisters in law, Carl Jenkins of Grand Rapids, Russell (Maxine) Fetters of Sanford, MI, Eunice Merritt of Norman, OK, Willard (Tiny) Fetters of Whitehall. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Roy, Delos, Lucille, Darrel, Frances, Cleatus, Edgar and Mary Ellen. The Memorial Service for Mr. Reeds will be held Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. from the West Golden Wesleyan Church with Pastor Ron Rickard officiating. Interment will be in the Hart Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to the Hart Historic District.
