Henry Mickle Brandel, 89, of Muskegon, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on August 8, 2022, with his loving wife by his side. Henry was born August 15, 1932, in Wisconsin, and later moved to Michigan after serving in the Korean Conflict. In Muskegon, he was employed at CWC in the Machine Repairs Department from which he retired from in 1990. After retirement, he worked at Lowe's for five years in the plumbing and electrical department.

While Henry was in Korea, he received Pen Pal letters from a girl in Kentucky. He later met his Pen Pal, swept her off her feet, and married her 66 years again on September 8, 1955. Together they raised six boys and then went on to open several Adult Foster Care homes in the Muskegon area.

Henry was an avid hunter, fisherman, carpenter, and bladesmith. He enjoyed passing on the love of these talents to his sons and grandchildren. Henry and Vicky were known to take all their grandchildren across the United States camping, to Disney World, and to Hawaii.

Henry and Vicky enjoyed their time in their winter Kentucky home where they often volunteered their time to the church and the food pantry until recently deciding to stay in Michigan to be near their family.

Henry is lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Victoria (Vicky), who survives him, along with five children, Henry (Linda) Brandel, Fred (Sandy) Brandel, Jeffery (Laura) Brandel, Larry (Olaf) Brandel, and Roger (Kris) Brandel, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren.

Henry was preceded in death by: his parents, Henry Fred and Marguerite L. Brandel; brothers, John and Kenneth Brandel; and son, Jonathon Brandel.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 12, 2022, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, 413 South Mears Avenue, Whitehall, Michigan 49461. Visitation will take place one hour prior to service. The family welcomes everyone to a luncheon following the interment at Oakhurst Cemetery.
