Mr. Henry Contreras, Jr., age 76, of Hart, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017, at the Grand Rapids Home For Veterans in Grand Rapids. He was born February 28, 1941, in Brownsville, TX to Henry and Manuela (Cantu) Contreras, Sr. Hank graduated from Hart High School with the Class of 1960. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 3/8/1961 to 3/31/1981. After his retirement from the USAF he was employed as a manager for the bowling alley and was also a truck driver for Padnos. He was a member of Hart VFW Post 1329 in Hart. Hank loved fishing and watching softball games. He was also a follower of Rush Limbaugh. Henry is survived by two daughters, Angela Smith of Shelby and Marlena (Kasey) Contreras of Ludington; four sons, Stephen (Shannon) Contreras of Hart, Al (Mel) Contreras of Grand Rapids, Dan (Amy) Contreras of Crystal Valley -Hart and Nick (Erica) Contreras of Scottville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen (Louis) Cantu of New Era, companion, Linda Robles of Montague, former spouse and mother of all six children, Carol (Jerry) Thorne of Ludington. He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandson, Wade Gleason. The funeral service for Mr. Contreras will be Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at King Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Hart with Rev. Ron Rickard officiating. Interment will take place in Hart Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at King Funeral Home in Hart.
