Howard "Sonny" Jacob Guenthardt Jr., 83, of Ludington, died Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Beacon Specialized Living in Carleton, Michigan.  He was born March 7, 1942, in Ludington, the son of Howard and Esther (Kowalski) Guenthardt.

Sonny graduated from Ludington High School in the Class of 1962.  He was employed by the City of Ludington for over 25 years where he worked in maintenance at Lakeview Cemetery and the library.

Sonny was an active member of St. Simon Catholic Church where he often attended Daily Mass.  Church was a very important part of Sonny's life as was being able to visit, talk and share with others.  Whenever he'd visit a different church Sonny would always get a photo of the Priest and a copy of the current bulletin.  He also enjoyed playing cards, especially rummy, and listening to the Ludington High School basketball games on the radio.

Sonny is survived by: his sisters, Judy Polcin of Ludington, and Carol (Mike) Bacon of Kalamazoo; his brother, Richard (Mary Ann) Guenthardt of Miromar Lakes, Florida; his sister-in-law, Lynn Guenthardt of Ludington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sonny was preceded in death by: his parents; his brother, Dale Guenthardt; his brother-in-law, Joseph Polcin; and several aunts and uncles.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 24, 2025, at St. Simon Catholic Church, in Ludington, with Father Wayne B. Wheeler presiding.  Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the church Monday from 10:00 AM until time of Mass.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Simon Catholic Church.
