Mr. Hugh Harold Bengtsson, 94, of Hart, died Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Harbor Hospice Poppen House in Muskegon. He was born October 23, 1923, in Bitely, Michigan, the son of Fred and Myra (Page) Bengtsson.

Hugh was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the US ARMY.

In his early years Hugh enjoyed playing golf, and his later years working outside in his garden, tending his lakeside property, and his dear friends at the Senior Center. He was a member of Hart United Methodist Church.

Hugh was preceded in death by: his wife of 63 years, Violet Elaine (Conyers) in 2010; his parents; his brothers, Edward, Carl, Sherman and Verne Bengtsson; and his sisters, Amy Swindell and Nora Vigna.

Hugh is survived by: his children, Larry Russell (Maryann) Bengtsson of Dowagiac, Sharon Lee Bengtsson Ruff of Hudsonville, Robert Hugh Bengtsson of Battle Creek, and Bradley Dean (Angela) Bengtsson of Mesa, AZ; his grandchildren, Jamie (Dana) Lewis, Jessica Bengtsson, Andrew (Allysa) Bengtsson, Brian (Tania) Bengtsson, Paul Bengtsson, Chad (Sandra) Ruff, Jason (Jessica) Ruff, Bjorn Bengtsson and Nathan Bengtsson; great-grandchildren, Molly, Zack, Lexie, Christopher, Parker, Reese, Sloan, Vieve, Chace, Heather, Hannah, and Issac; his sister, Bonnie Bengtsson of Fremont; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Open House will be held in mid-July for friends and family.  Private committal services will take place in Hart Cemetery.

Memorials contributions may be made to Oceana County Council on Aging or Hart United Methodist Church.
