IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Hugh Gust
Heuer Gannon
March 7, 1937 – April 1, 2018
Hugh Gust Heuer Gannon, 81, of Ludington, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018. Hugh was born on March 7, 1937 to Harold and Crystal Heuer. After Harold's death, he was adopted by Guy Gannon who married his mother.
Early in life he was a merchant Marine and sailed the Great Lakes. He then joined the Air Force and while stationed in Gettysburg SD, he met and married the love of his life, Darlene. After the service he worked at the Union Pacific Railroad where he was a pipefitter/sheet metal worker by trade in Nebraska. After moving back to Michigan Hugh opened his own insurance agency, Gannon Insurance Agency. Hugh was a strong-willed unique, "straight-shooter." He will be deeply missed.
Hugh lived a full life. He had a passion for restoring cars, boats, motorcycles and traveling. Hugh loved Cadillac's mostly but was a Oldsmobile man too. He restored a 1960 Cadillac and a 1966 Olds dynamic 88 amongst others. Hugh enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting and going for a good car ride. After retirement Hugh went south for the winters. He visited and stayed at Superstition Mountains in Arizona where he panned for Gold and explored all winter. In the summer back in Michigan Hugh still had pleasure working with cars as he started a detail business. A generous man, Hugh was a father figure to many of his children's friends and he never came across someone he wouldn't help.
Hugh is survived by his wife, Darlene; children, Debra Gannon-Thaler, Hugh (Cherice) Gannon Jr., and Terri (Timothy) Cameron; 7 grandchildren, 14, great- grandchildren; brother, Donavan Gannon; sisters, Karin Ziehm and Bona Lowery; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Ann Gannon; his parents; and brothers, Dale and Harold (Dickie).
A private celebration of his life will take place at a later date. Internment will take place at Lakeview cemetery.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the family to help with final expenses.
