Ignacio “Nacho” Saucedo passed away peacefully in his sleep Thursday August 6, 2026.

Nacho was born in San Antonio, Texas on October 13, 1946, the son of Jose and Seferina Saucedo. He attended John F. Kennedy High School.

Nacho, seventh of 12 sons, grew up following crops with his family…from weeding fields in Missouri to harvesting beets in Indiana to Ludington Michigan with his family where they harvested strawberries, then cherries for Olmstead Orchards, then to Ohio for tomatoes harvest, then back to the panhandle of Texas for harvesting cotton and finally back home to San Antonio. The route varied as Jose kept close track of crops so as not to have any down time before going home for the year. They traveled back and forth for many years, until Jose had a stroke and was unable to travel anymore.

Nacho did various types of jobs after that, including construction and factory work. But it was too late, the farm outdoor life was in his blood.

On May 19, 1966 he married the love of his life, Bertha Mendoza. They shared 60 years, committed and devoted to one another. They were that love story that had its tests but there was nothing stronger than their love.

While starting their new life together in San Antonio they added two daughters to their family. As they prepared to welcome their third child, and first son, they decided to try that migrant life again.

They traveled to Michigan, and with some work they settled into routine of migrating back and forth between Texas and Michigan for many years. This time with his own family. In 1979, the family eventually decided to make Ludington their permanent home. Nacho worked for Hackert Farms, he started out harvesting and eventually worked up to crew leader. He was a hard worker and someone they could really depend on. He worked diligently for Hackert farms for 44 years before retiring in 2017, due to health. Nacho took great pride in his work. He believed if it had to be done, it was going to be done really well.

Nacho was the kind of man whose presence commanded respect. That’s how he carried himself, that’s how he lived. He was a present and active father to his 5 children and led by example in everything he did. He attended every sports event and bragged about his children endlessly. He was loved and respected so deeply by all 5 children, because he treated them with love and respect. He knew he was pouring into his legacy.

The only thing that made him smile bigger was when the grandchildren started coming. One by one they all fell in love with their grandpa, he showed patience and loved to have fun with them. He was never above a good teasing but also a good dance session, a ballet routine was not out of the question.

His most precious of grandchildren was Michael Anthony. Mikey was dealt a rough hand at birth but when his grandparents took over his care at 5 years old, he became the center of the universe. Michael was the second love of his life and anyone could see that. They devoted every moment to him and cared for him until his passing on December 15, 2025. That was a crushing loss and he took a little piece of his grandpa with him.

As a man of simple means, he felt he lacked nothing. When recently asked if there was anything he never got to do in this life, he thought for a moment and said “no, I had everything I wanted”

Nacho will be deeply missed by his loving wife Bertha; his children Rosemary Saucedo, Belinda (Chris Ward) Saucedo, Ignacio “Nash” (Andrea) Saucedo Jr, Rosalynda (Vern Nickson) Saucedo and Nick (Christine O’Hara) Saucedo along with his grandchildren Nina (Antonio) Robertson, Xavier Zamora, Marcos (Celena) Zamora, Miranda (Jake) Brody, Lauren Ward, Christopher (Cami Shoup) Ward, Wynter Ward, Bianca Saucedo, Andreas (Lindsey) Saucedo, Alexandra (CJ) Matias, Dominique Vallier, Jared Saucedo, Deon Saucedo, Kingston Saucedo, Jeremiah Nickson, Carter Nickson, Aiden Saucedo and Jaxon Saucedo, along with several great grandchildren. As well as his siblings Valentin (Larree) Saucedo, Raymond (Bertha) Saucedo, Santos (Sylvia) Saucedo, Lilly (Felix) Ramos and Tony (Beatriz) Saucedo, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nacho is preceded in death by his parents Jose and Seferina Saucedo; his sisters Nicolasa Saucedo and Francis Saucedo; his brothers Arturo Saucedo, Jose Saucedo, Juan Saucedo, Martin Saucedo, Richard Saucedo, David Saucedo and Albert Saucedo and his beloved grandson Michael Anthony Saucedo.

A time to celebrate Nacho's life will be held from 5-7 PM, Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Pere Marquette Chapel in Ludington.
