Irene Rose Dragg (Renee), 94, of Livonia, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017, surrounded by her family in Muskegon, MI. Irene was born on March 9, 1923, the daughter of Alexander and Rose Smolenski.
Irene married Alfred Dragg in 1943 and together they raised 2 daughters in Livonia, Michigan. Irene and Alfred were blessed with 67 years of marriage until his death in 2010.
Irene was a founding member of St. Aidan's Catholic Church in Livonia, where she remained faithful until her move to Muskegon. She loved spending time with her family and had a great sense of humor. She was a passionate reader, enjoyed traveling, and loved to spoil her grandchildren, but was never too busy to watch a Tiger game. Irene met every challenge of aging with strength, determination and grace. She was loved by all and and made friends wherever she went. She will be deeply missed.
Irene is survived by her children, Carrie (Michael) Krohn and Laurie (Richard) Fantine; grandchildren Julia, Claire, Alex, and Brandon,; nephew, Tom Berlin; nieces, Sue Berlin, Debbie Hinchman, Denise Farr and Toni Olech.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband Alfred; her parents; and sister, Diana (Stanley) Berlin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday August 14, 2017 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1110 Dykstra Rd, North Muskegon with Fr. Godfrey Onyekwere officiating.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Harbor Hospice.
