Mr. James LeRoy Alltop, age 77, of Hart passed away Sunday August 27, 2017 at Mercy Health-Lakeshore Hospital in Shelby.  Jim was born in Coal Run, Ohio on June 16, 1940 to Bailey and Dorothy (Cobb) Alltop. He was employed in maintenance at the Oceana County Fairgrounds and was also a mechanic at Oceana Auto. Jim married the former Joyce Monroe in Hart on January 26, 1967.

Jim and Joyce had an open door policy at their home and many friends and family members had resided with them through the years. Jim enjoyed his grandchildren, especially taking them fishing. He was also known as the shade tree mechanic.

James is survived by his wife Joyce Alltop of Hart; three sons, Charles (Shirley) Alltop of Waverly, W.VA, Roy (Ann) Alltop of Hart, Jason (Heather) Alltop of Hart; one daughter, Angela Alltop of Crystal Valley; eleven grandchildren, Joshua, Katie, Roy Jr, Tamara, Kelly, Jose, Timothy, Shelbie, Bailey, David, Casey; one special grandson, Joshua Sutton; several great grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, one son James "Ollie" Alltop; four sisters, Doris Mae Burchette, Norma Wolfe, Betty Schimp, Pauline Barrett; one brother, Verlin Alltop.

The Memorial Service for James will be conducted Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 11:00 AM, from the Elbridge Community Church with Pastor Dennis Hintz officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
