James Richard Boardwell Jr., Age 78, of Muskegon, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. He was a 1966 graduate of Montague High School and a United States Navy Vietnam veteran.

He found joy on the golf course and enjoyed time with his family, friends, and church members. His infectious laughter and endless supply of jokes brought joy to everyone he met.

James is survived by: his wife of 32 years, Kathryn Boardwell; his two sons, Bradley Boardwell (Joey) and Bryan Boardwell (Darla); and her children, Stacy (Steve) Thomas and Nathan Parker (Jennifer); four grandchildren, Braxton, Kira, Zack, and Hailey; and his sister, Kathryn Snell.

Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 16, 2026, at First Lutheran Church (ELCA), 1206 Whitehall Road, Muskegon, MI 49445, with Pastor Bill Uetricht presiding. Visitation will be held 10:00 AM until time of service and a luncheon will follow all services at the church.
