James (Jim) F. McKenna, 89, of Interlochen, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021.  He was born April 15, 1932, in Toledo, Ohio, to John E. McKenna and Letha E. (Foreman) McKenna.

Jim grew up in Saginaw, Michigan, and starting at the age of seven, spent his summers up at Green Lake in Interlochen. Jim graduated from Arthur Hill High School, class of 1950, after which he served in the US Air Force.  After being honorably discharged, Jim earned his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University in 1958. He went on to a successful career and proudly worked for General Motors for 26 years.

On June 7, 1952, he married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Barbara L. (Wolcott) McKenna. They raised a family of three boys in Troy, Michigan, where Jim proudly served two terms as councilman for the City of Troy.

After his retirement from General Motors, Jim and Barb relocated full time to Interlochen. Settling in the area they both loved and spending time around their home, just enjoying the great outdoors. Jim was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working outdoors. Jim is survived by his wife of 69 years, Barbara, his sons John, Michael (Pamela), and Scott. He was blessed to have many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
