James "Jim" Gillan, passed away peacefully May 09, 2023. He was born April 16, 1960, to Dr. B. Wayne and Gloria (Yukel) Gillan.

Jim graduated from Montague High School. Within his time at Montague, Jim was a twelve sport athlete, participating in football, basketball, and baseball. After his time in high school, Jim spent a year at community college and then transferred to Michigan State University where he received a degree in landscape architecture. In his time as a landscape architect, Jim proudly worked for the City of Aurora, Colorado, and a company in Grand Rapids where he worked on athletic facilities, including Montague and Reeths-Puffer Schools. He received paver awards in recognition of his impeccable designs and work. Jim most recently worked at the Naylor Landscape Management Company in Kalamazoo, a job he truly loved.

Jim is survived by: his siblings, Pam Gillan, Dr. Todd (Joanne) Gillan, Paul (Karen Bednarek) Gillan, Roger Gillan, and John Gillan; and several nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by: his parents, Dr. B. Wayne and Gloria (Yukel) Gillan; and niece, Jessica Diamond.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Friday, September 22, 2023, at the White Lake United Methodist Church, 8555 Cook Street, Montague, MI 49437. The family will receive friends Friday, one hour prior to the celebration, and a luncheon will follow immediately after.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the White Lake United Methodist Church, 8555 Cook Street, Montague, MI 49437, or to the Pound Buddies Animal Shelter & Adoption Center, 3279 East Laketon Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442.
