James Gladson, a beloved father, grandfather, auto mechanic and racing
enthusiast, passed away peacefully at his home in Hart, Michigan, Thursday, Aug.
19, 2021. He was 75.
Mr. Gladson was born Jan. 22, 1946, in Murphy, North Carolina, to Alvin
and Evelyn Gladson, the youngest of three children. He graduated from Hiawassee
Dam High School, in Murphy, North Carolina, in 1963.
He moved to Detroit, Michigan, in 1968 and began his career soon after with
Detroit Edison where he worked until his retirement as Automotive Mechanic
Foreman. He had a great love for automobiles and enjoyed working as a mechanic
and later as a foreman. He became a Certified Automotive Mechanic in 1981 from
MoTech Automotive in the Detroit area and attended some community college
courses in welding. He was very active in tinkering with cars. He enjoyed building
engines and frames for racing cars. He was a member of National Hot Rod
Association (NHRA). His hobbies included, traveling, reading and watching
sports.
Mr. Gladson was married in 1964 and divorced in 2000. He was preceded in
death by his parents, and half-sisters,
Shirley and Rebecca. He will be greatly
missed by family which includes three daughters: Kimberly, Stacy and Tracy. He
leaves behind 16 grandchildren and several more great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021, at
NorthRidge Church, 49555 N. Territorial Rd., Plymouth, Michigan, 48170.
Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, King-Hart Chapel, is in charge of
