James (Jim) Luther Griswold, 94, of Kewadin, died at home, peacefully on March 10, 2026.

Jim was born on November 23, 1931, in Saginaw, the son of Arthur and Catherine (Stein) Griswold.

Jim graduated from Midland High School in 1950. He proudly spent four years with the Navy, stationed at Midway Island. Upon his return, he attended Michigan Technology College. In 1957 he graduated with a mechanical engineer degree. He owned and operated Griswold Machine and Engineering in Union City, MI for over 40 years.

Jim married Pat Smith on November 21, 1969, and they shared 56 years together.

Jim is survived by his wife Pat, Sister Marge O’Malley, stepson Jeff Peterson, 3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, sister Susan Healy and stepson Kirk Peterson

Jim loved his home and entertaining his family and friends. He was a great storyteller and card player. With their many trips to Las Vegas, Jim & Pat spent many winters in Scottsdale, AZ, where he worked with his dear friend.

A private celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Contributions in Jim’s name may be made to Hospice of Michigan or Hillsdale College.
