James Nelson Hubbard

Jim was son to Clifford and Gertrude, husband to Rhonda, dad to Kathy and Stephanie. He was grandpa to Amber, Brandon and Nicholas, great-grandpa to Steve-O, Kendall, Maverick and Molly, and great-great-grandpa to Zhyaire. He was brother to John and Jeff and uncle to five nieces. And to anyone who needed one, he was also known as friend.

After serving in the United States Army, he worked at Sealed Power for 33 years and was very happy to retire at the age of 53. He was a joyful soul who whistled while he worked and sang while he cooked (PINK NOODLES!). He loved to read, especially books about history, and when the family would gather at his house on Sunday afternoon, the music never stopped. He loved Mamma Cass and the Charlie Daniels Band, and on the 4th of July he would crank up John Philip Sousa. He was an avid fisherman in his younger years, he always looked forward to rifle season, mostly so he could be in the fresh air enjoying the sights, sounds and smells of the forest he grew up in (there was a deer hanging in his garage every now and then), and he dearly loved spending time with his family. His grandchildren were the light of his life.

"On March 1, 1944, the needle that wove you into the fabric of our lives was threaded. On August 26, 2020, that fabric was finished, and we will use it to dry our eyes. You leave us with memories of a man who was benevolent, deep thinking, honest charming and wealthy... in memories, stories and love."

A celebration of Jim's life will be held from 2:00 PM - 8:00PM, Saturday, September 5, 2020, at the Lakewood Civic Builders, 6667 Kedzie Rd, in Lakewood Club.

Beacon Cremation and Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
