James “Jim” Anthony Green passed away at the age of 85 on Friday, September 18th, 2026, after years of declining health. He was surrounded by family, including his wife, Lora, and his three children. At the time of his death, the couple resided in the Village of Shelby, where Lora will continue to live.

Jim was born in Muskegon, Michigan on June 27, 1941, to George E. Green and Nancy L. Green (Ross). He attended Muskegon Public Schools and married Lora Jane Routley on December 10, 1966, at Lora’s childhood home, a farm in Walkerville, Michigan.

Jim is survived by: his wife Lora; his son Gary L. Green of Shelby; his twin daughters, Lori M. Denslow of Muskegon, and Lisa M. Broton (Eric VanderVelde) of Muskegon; fifteen grandchildren, Kailey, Amanda, Jacob, Michael, Jessica, David, Zackery, Tony, Justice, Jackson, Leisy, Emily, Charles, Josephina, and Bella; and eleven great-grandchildren. Jace, Andrew, Archer, Elliot, Liam, Wesley, Tanner, Bailey, Nash, Tayla, and Olivia; and his brother Charles.

Jim was preceded in death by: his great grand-daughter, Charlotte; his parents; and his brothers Donald, Ronald, and Robert.

During his life, Jim enjoyed fishing, taking long walks, and going over to Reese Field in Muskegon near to where the family lived to watch baseball games. In later years, he enjoyed watching movies with Lora and also playing solitaire.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate Jim’s life at Walkerville Wesleyan Church, 144 S. Hamon St., Walkerville, MI 49459, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 11:00 am with a luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Jim’s memory to Corewell Health Foundation of West Michigan or Pound Buddies of Muskegon.
