Mr. James Albert Rainey Jr., 74, of Shelby, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018. He was born November 26, 1943, in Providence, R.I. to James and Lillian (McCarthy) Rainey, Sr.  He married the former Louise Anderson December 8, 2001, and she survives him. James served his country in the US Air Force and US Army in Korea and Vietnam and was a fully retired veteran. Following his military retirement, he also was a truck driver. His hobbies included woodworking and scroll saw art. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

James is survived by his wife: Louise Rainey, four daughters: Elizabeth (James) Clauson of Warwick, R.I., Sharon Rainey of Cranston, R.I., Christine Guertin of Warwick, R.I. and Heather (Darrin) Rainey-Ross of Lake Elisnore, Calif.; three sons: James (Sandra) Rainey III of Warwick, R.I., Sean Rainey of Warwick, R.I. and Wayne (Dawn) Rainey of Shelby; 23 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two sisters: Nancy Hill of Warwick, R.I., Priscilla Ann Rainey of Warwick, R.I. and one brother: Frank Rainey of Florida.

The memorial service for Mr. Rainey will be Wednesday April 25, 2018, 11 a.m. at the Hart VFW Post 1329, 802 S. State St. Hart.
