Obituary

James Krajewski, age 71, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Hart, Michigan, on March 10, 2017. Jim was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on June 15, 1945, to John and Sarah Krajewski.  He attended St. Gregory's school in Hart where he made many lifelong friends.  He went on to graduate from Catholic Central High School in Grand Rapids and later completed trade school in auto mechanics in Bay City, MI.  In 1971, Jim married his beloved wife, Suzie, and they were married nearly 46 years.

In his early days, Jim worked on the Bosse Farm south of Hart whose family he held dearly to his heart. He became a member of the Merchant Marines and worked on the car ferries out of Ludington.  His spirit of adventure lead him to a great variety of work experiences from working on the Delta Queen on the Mississippi, to Harrah's Club in Lake Tahoe.  His colorful history contributed to the rich stories that he loved to tell.

Though he lived in many different places, his "home" was always Hart where he returned with his family in 1979. He and Suzie purchased 10 acres of land on Polk Road that later became Oceana Auto--a new legacy began.  He was the proud owner and operator of Oceana Auto for 20 years.  Considering retirement was not in Jim's career plan, so he worked for a short time at Grace Youth Camp and Baker Auto Parts in Grand Rapids.

In 2003, Jim transformed his love for the land and people of Oceana County into a career as a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Anchor Real Estate which he practiced until the days of his passing.

Everyone knew Jim as a people person. He made it a point to visit relatives and friends near and far, especially in time of need.  He had a strong faith in God which showed in his love for helping others, especially the underserved.  On most summer days, he could be found lying in the sand on the shores of Lake Michigan or taking a dip in Crystal Lake.  He especially enjoyed sharing his adventures with his grandchildren.  He was a steam locomotive enthusiast, loved campfires, hikes in the woods, and cruising in one of his many convertibles.  A free spirit and a true non-conformist, he will live in our hearts forever.

Jim is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Grahs) Krajewski; his daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Keane Quinn of Coopersville, MI; his daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Trevor Schams of La Crosse, WI, and four grandchildren; Madeline, Molly and Megan Quinn and Carmen Schams. Brothers Daniel (Judy) Krajewski of Grand Rapids, and David (Cecilia) Krajewski of Battle Creek, MI and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sarah Krajewski, and his son, David Gregory Krajewski, who passed away at birth in 1979.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 15, from 6-8 PM at King Funeral Home in Hart. The funeral service will be Thursday, March 16, at 11:00 AM at New Hope Community Church, 244 S. 79 th Ave, Shelby, MI 49455 with visitation one hour prior to the service.
