Mr. James Floyd Stovall, age 89 of Shelby, passed away Thursday February 14, 2013. He was born on November 30, 1923 in Marion, Arkansas to Riley and Beulah (Clayton) Stovall. He married the former Julia Verscheuren in Marion, Arkansas on July 10, 1943 and she preceded him in death on June 23, 1994. Mr. Stovall held employment with the Hart Dairy as a rural milkman, Merskin & Merskin Accountants in Hart, Lloyd J. Harris Pie Company in Shelby and Speas in Fremont, retiring in 1978 as Assistant Manager of processing. He was a member of A.A.R.P., enjoyed playing shuffleboard, watching westerns on television, traveling with his wife Julia, and was an avid reader of the daily newspaper. He always loved to see his grandchildren and his animal companion, Meredith.
James is survived by three sons: Rodney (Judy) Stovall of Shelby, Gary (Vicki) Stovall of Columbus, MS, Mark (DeeAnn) Stovall of Florida; one sister, Doris (Jack) Allen of Heber Springs, AK and three brothers, Herbert (Madge) Stovall of Harrison, AK, T.J. (Gloria) Stovall, Glen (June) Stovall of Valkaria, FL. Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and other siblings.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no service held and final interment will be made in the Mears Cemetery. The family requests that any memorials be directed to Hart VFW Post 1329, 802 S. State St., Hart, MI 49420.
