James "Jim" Voelker, 84, of Clearwater, Florida, formerly of Ludington, died Wednesday, March 20, 2019, in Clearwater, Florida. He was born January 19, 1935, in Lansing, the son of Harold and Theresa (Douse) Voelker.
Jim graduated from Okemos High School in 1952. He worked for many years at Consumers Power in Lansing. He then moved to Ludington where he owned and operated Hamlin Grocery Store for several years. He served on the Hamlin Township Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the Eagles Lodge and Elks Lodge. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed hunting for deer and turkey. Most of all, Jim loved spending time with his dogs, Riley and Blackie.
Jim is survived by: his sister, Nancy Stoner of Clearwater, Florida; 2 sons, Roger Voelker of Vermontville, and Bruce Fox of Eaton Rapids; and his nephew, Michael Stoner of Rockledge, Florida.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Wiecorek Voelker on January 18, 2010.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Pere Marquette Chapel, 309 S. Washington Avenue, Ludington, with Father Wayne B. Wheeler presiding. Interment will follow in Pere Marquette Cemetery.
