Obituary

Jane Margaret Freeman, 97, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017. She was born April 1, 1920 in Standish, MI to Roy and Alice (Williamson) Crandell.

Jane attended Kalamazoo College, and MSU earning a degree in Social Work. She worked for the TB Association in the thumb area of Michigan and at Abrams Camera during WWII. It was at a USO dance in Lansing that she met her future husband Tom Freeman and they married in 1946. They raised two children on Rundle St., Lansing.

Later in life she worked in the book dept. at Knapp's in Lansing. She volunteered in the gift shop at Ingham Medical for over 20 years and was a member of Grace UMC for many years also. She was an accomplished pianist, loved to read, travel, and to watch the Tigers and MSU basketball.

In 2004 she moved to Whitehall, MI. due to her health, to be with her son and family. In 2012, she went to live at Bush Creek Manor where she was lovingly cared for.

Jane is survived by her son; Douglas (June) Freeman of Montague, MI; granddaughter, Brianne Freeman, of Whitehall, MI; cousin, Nancy of Reno, NV; brother-in-law Gordon (Herta); and nieces and nephews in Maine, Arizona and Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom in 2001; and daughter Nancy in 1980.

A graveside service will be conducted August 11, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Deepdale Memorial Gardens, 4108 Old Lansing Rd, Lansing, MI.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Harbor Hospice Foundation.
