Mrs. Janet Adrianne Matthews, age 77, of Pentwater, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012. She was born September 22, 1934, in Kanawha, West Virginia to Andrew and Mabel (Garten) Rose. In 1952, she graduated from Charleston High School in West Virginia. Janet married Roland E. Matthews on June 12, 1975 in Pentwater; he preceded her in death on December 13, 2005. She had owned Matthews Foster Care and served as Pentwater Village Clerk. She attended St. James Episcopal Church. Janet enjoyed knitting and golfing; she earned a Hole in One award in 1995.

Janet is survived by two daughters, Catherine (Tom) Worth of Mears and Bridgette (John) Ramsay of Wellston; two sons, Robert Coker of Branch, Marvin (Belinda) Coker of Branch; Roland's children, Michael (Susie) Matthews of Hixson, TN, Pat (Hai) Matthews of Fruitport, Kathy (Stu) Morin of Etowah, TN, Tim Matthews of Etowah, TN, and Colleen (Gene) Eaton of Athens, TN; sixteen grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, a sister, Betty Fitch, and two brothers, Doral and John Rose.

Graveside services for Mrs. Matthews will be Saturday, June 2, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at Pentwater Cemetery in Pentwater with Mr. Galen Bowman officiating. The family requests that any memorials be directed to American Lung Association, 25900 Greenfield Rd. Ste. 610, Oak Park, IL 48237 or to
