Mrs. Janet "Nettie" Isabel (Crothers) Ramsey, 91, passed away surrounded by family at her home in Ludington on Tuesday, February 23, 2016. Janet was born on March 17, 1924 in Belfast Northern Ireland to Mr. Gilbert and Elizabeth (Bell) Crothers. She attended school at Mountpottinger Primary School in Belfast and married the late Mr. Daniel Ramsey on May 21, 1949. Janet and Daniel moved to Ludington, Michigan in 1952, where Janet made a home for herself and her family, attended Saint Simon's Catholic Church, gained her US citizenship in 1958, and was an active member in the Ludington Emblem Club. Throughout her life, Janet particularly enjoyed visiting with her many friends and loving family. Her warm sense of humor will be dearly missed.
Janet is survived by her sons, Daniel P. and Stacey E. Ramsey of Ludington; Brian M. and Tracey Ramsey with grandchildren Riley and Emma Ramsey of Bellaire, Michigan; and Terrance S. Ramsey with grandchildren Elliot and Jessie Ramsey of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Along with her sons and grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. She is preceded in death by her husband Daniel, son Brendon, her parents, sister Georgina, brother Gilbert, and her sister Elizabeth "Bess" Thomas.
The Mass of the Resurrection for Janet will be offered on March 7, 2016, at 1:00 p.m., at St. Simon's Catholic Church in Ludington, with Fr. Wayne B. Wheeler Jr. presiding. A time of visitation at the church will be held one hour prior to the Mass from Noon until the time of service. In memory of Janet, memorials may be directed to Ludington Area Catholic School, 700 E.
