It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of my mother, Janice Kay Filley, on Thursday, September 2, 2021. She was born in Grand Haven, lived in Ann Arbor, and recently in Whitehall. Her parents were Ernest and Dorothy Filley, also born in Grand Haven.

Janice was a fiercely independent woman, an artist, avid reader, nature lover, paddler, and mother. She served as an LPN at the Veteran Affairs, Ann Arbor Healthcare System for 14 years.

She had a keen eye for valuable antiques and her deep love for Lake Michigan was featured in her photography and frequent swims during summer.

Janice is survived by her daughter, Sarah Ruthe Filley.

Memorial services will be held from 6:00 PM until Sunset, Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Sylvan Beach, on Lake Michigan, near the White River Lighthouse.
