IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jared Theodore
Greiner
June 18, 1984 – October 8, 2022
Saturday October 8, 2022 our beloved Jared Theodore Greiner -son, brother, father and friend unexpectedly left this earthly world, to join his family on the other side; where he can strum, rumble and roll in the heavenly skies with sounds of thunder.
Jared grew up in Weare Township, Oceana County, Michigan, where he attended Pentwater Public School. Jared was very active in sports, he started wrestling at the young age of 6 and competed in open wrestling at Ludington, he also attended Grace Youth wrestling Camp, where he was the youngest competitor. The older boys took him under their wings, the taught him many wrestling skills and to sleep on the bottom bunk. Jared had a drive for playing basketball, he would throw hoops late into the night, and even cried when "there were no more time outs". Jared loved playing basketball for Pentwater he was elegant at making a half court 3 point basket in junior high. He also played summer baseball with his mother as the coach, and Slocum Brothers Tree Farm as the teams sponsor. This age the team learned ball skills and good sportsmanship, he wasn't a good loser.
Jared joined the Pentwater School band, following in his mother's footsteps, by choosing to play the saxophone. Within a short time he was eager to learn how to play different instruments, like the guitar. He made a promise to stay in the Pentwater band, so he would be allowed to take guitar lessons.
Jared had a gift, he was a natural musician who could play musical songs by ear with multiple instruments. He loved music from a young age, his home was filled with rock and roll music from the radio. He pleaded to attend the AC/DC concert at The Palace, and his parents bought tickets so they could enjoy his excitement of his favorite band Minus Bon.
Jared enjoyed listening to a morning radio show, aired from Muskegon while getting ready for school. One morning he heard they were giving away 2 free tickets to the person calling in that could sing "Back in Black". He called and we all listened to him sing on the phone while his voice was singing through the radio, Jared won the tickets. With the three tickets his mom and cousin and aunt got to go!
In High School he and his friends formed a band named "Blaze", the group self-taught themselves on guitars and drums. The group made a CD and performed in several local talent shows.
Jared, Alexandra, and Evan would often go to concerts, sharing their love for music and crazy audience watching.
Jared had grown up with Gary his Dad working in fruit and veggies and also worked with his mother on a Christmas tree farm for years. He soon grew restless and moved to Nashville, TN working in tree removal service. Jared thrived anywhere he landed, and his need to see more country lead him to Austin, TX working driving equipment that painted lines on roads, highways, and parking lots. He then landed a job insulating homes with foam.
Eventually missing his family and farm Jared returned to Michigan. He was blessed with a beautiful daughter in 2016, Alyviah Grace Greiner, who he loved dearly.
Jared could easily bring life and laughs to wherever he roamed. He had a rebellious side from an early age. A rebel with a cause, whether it was for a story, or a later time of humor in dire straits. He was someone that could show you your silver lining and humble soul. Jared worked hard and he played hard. His life wasn't filled with a silver lining or a silver spoon. Jared struggled with addictions that were always knocking on the door. He had gone to rehabilitation centers, and some rehabs but he really realized when he was chasing the dragon he needed help. Jared reached out numerous times to agencies that didn't seem to hear or provide action. He had recently written a new album with verses and chords that reflected his heart.
He will truly be missed by his family, he loved unconditionally, and gave selflessly. His accidental death is heart breaking.
Carry on you wayward soul, dance above the clouds.
Jared is survived by: his Mother Michelle K. Slocum; a daughter, Alyviah Grace Greiner; sister Alexandra Ann Greiner; brother, Evan Sebastian Greiner, grandmother, Judith Slocum; and grandfather, Sebastian Greiner extended family and close friends.
