Mrs. Jean Ann Barrus, age 79, died Friday, April 25, 2008. She was born March 17, 1929 in Portland, Michigan to Conrad and Harriet (Frost) Stegenga. Jean married Maynard Barrus in Portland and he preceded her in death in 2003. She was employed as a clerk at the Pentwater Community Library for 15 years. Jean was a master gardener and was active in Girl and Boy Scouting with her children. Mrs. Barrus is survived by her children, Mrs. Suzanne (Ron) Connell of Pentwater and Timothy Barrus; 3 grandchildren, Michael Cheetham, Elizabeth Phillips and Kree Barrus; 5 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Evelyn Haueter of Lansing, MI and Ellen Winchester of Florida. She was also preceded in death by a brother Jack Barrus. In accordance with her wishes there is no visitation. The Committal Service for family and friends will be held Sunday, May 4, 2008 at 4:00 P.M. at the Pentwater Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Multiple Sclerosis.
