Mrs. Jean Ellen Gleason, age 83, of Hart, MI, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2015. She was born April 19, 1932, in Traverse City, MI to Frank and Frances (Swaney) Weatherholt. She was a graduate of St. Francis High School in Traverse City with the Class of 1950 and graduated Valedictorian from Mercy Central School of Nursing in Grand Rapids with the Class of 1953. On November 7, 1953, Jean married Jerry Gleason at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mapleton, MI. She was employed as a registered nurse at St. Joseph Hospital, Ann Arbor, Memorial Hospital, St. Joseph, MI, South Haven Community Hospital, Oceana Hospital, Hart and finally Oceana County Medical Care Facility, retiring in 2008. Her nursing career totaled over 54 years of dedicated service to others.

Jean continued her volunteering in service to others at Our Friends House, Pentwater Friendship Center, St. Joseph Catholic Church, funeral luncheons, the Altar Society, and also was a minister of the Eucharist. She also enjoyed the Oceana County Council on Aging, CRS Group Alumni from nursing school, being an avid Detroit Tigers and Lions fan, and University of Michigan sports fan.

Jean is survived by one daughter, Nancy (David) Stebbins of Fruitport; three sons, Tim (Maggie Daly) Gleason of Riverside, Ric (Dee) Gleason of Pentwater, and Steve (Kelli) Gleason of Shelby; four grandchildren, Ross Gleason, Katie Stebbins, Aaron Stebbins and Hayley Gleason; two sisters, Pat Wolf of Traverse City, and Joyce (John) Culver of Houston, TX; one brother: Phil (Marge) Weatherholt of Traverse City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Gleason; grandson, Wade Gleason; her parents; two sisters, Elaine Thomas and Muriel Donoghue and two brothers-in-law, Robert Wolf and Oscar Thomas.

The Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Gleason will be offered Monday, October 5, 2015, at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Weare with Father Phillip Sliwinski presiding. Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Mapleton, MI. Visitation will be Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 2:00 - 5:00 pm at the King Funeral Home in Hart. The Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 pm. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2380 West Jackson Rd., Hart, MI 49420.
