Mrs. Joan Marilyn Janes, age 83, of Pentwater, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014. She was born August 6, 1931, in Hinsdale, Illinois, to Floyd and Edna (Garre) Schell. On September 30, 1950, she married Richard James Janes Sr. in Chicago, Illinois. They were married forty-four years before his death on January 7, 1995. They owned and operated the Plaza Motel in White Pigeon, Michigan.

Joan is survived by one daughter, Linda Janes of Lafayette, Indiana; two sons, Richard (Annette) Janes II and Don Janes, both of Hart, Michigan; six grandchildren , Elizabeth (Cristopher) Janes-Davis of Rockford, Michigan; Richard James (Tanya) Janes III of Brutus, Michigan, Jeffrey (Jodie) Pyrcioch and Jacob (Jennifer) Pyrcioch, both of Indiana, Luke (Nikki) Janes and Alicia Janes, both of Colorado; seven great-grandchildren, Cierra and Alayna Davis of Rockford, Michigan, Haden and Lyla Janes of Brutus, Michigan, Chloe and Jacob Pyrcioch of Indiana, and Malina Green of Indiana; one sister, Cindy (Larry) Kimes of Indiana; and three brothers, Peter (Crystal) Schell of Virginia, Edward Schell of Illinois, and Garre Schell of Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Richard James Janes, Sr.

The Graveside Service for Mrs. Janes will be Saturday, September 6, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at Pentwater Township Cemetery in Pentwater with Father Thomas Bolster officiating.
